What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is one of the world's oldest systems of health and healing.
A Sanskrit word: "Ayur" meaning life, and "Veda" meaning knowledge or wisdom...
-which translates to The Science of Life.
Ayurveda originated in India between 3,000 and 5,000 years ago. Its teachings were first passed down orally and later recorded in ancient Sanskrit texts such as the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita. These texts describe how to maintain health, prevent disease, and treat illness using natural methods.
At its core, Ayurveda teaches that health comes from balance -between the body, mind, and environment. Rather than just treating symptoms, Ayurveda focuses on understanding the root cause of imbalance.
Ayurvedic practices restore balance through:
*Food and Nutrition
*Daily Routines
*Herbs and Natural Remedies
*Movement and Yoga
*Breathwork and Meditation
*Sleep and Seasonal Living
In many ways, Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences. Yoga helps bring balance to the mind and body through movement and breath, while Ayurveda guides how we live the rest of our lives to support that balance.
